Is anyone else having issues with this update? Both my daughters have Nano 2Gs, and both were updated today. One had the -1413 (maybe -1415? Don't remember exactly) and then a -50 error which needed a reset while still plugged into the computer before the update would take, and both have had issues this afternoon following the update being applied. They both had this problem with the last update too - not sure if that's significant. After the update, first one froze a couple of hours in as the screen swept across from a menu listing to a chosen track, so the left-hand side of the screen showed a menu and the right-hand side showed the album art and the edge of the track name, and the second played a completely unrelated track to the one shown and album art'ed on the screen. Is it just us, or are others out there with the same problem? I realise the update is a couple of weeks old now, but this is the first time either had been sync'd in a while.

I first said no to firmware, then the next time I said OK to stop the nagging. Now its stuck at 'Please Wait Very Low Battery'. If I remove it it just fades from that screen. I can get it into daigs when I plug it in to USB but as soon as i reset it goes back to the 'Please Wait Very Low Battery'. Since my battery was fine before the update, the charge would last for hours and I never had any other problems with the 1st gen 4gig nano, I suspect that the firmware corrupted when it tried to update. I don't think there is anything I can do to. Can apple fix the firmware if it is corrupt?
It won't even mount on Mac or PC due to it. I think the update cost me the nano. Any suggestions? May 9, 2007 10:58 AM. Hi TimeZone750, As far as I know, there are no new changes that the new 1.1.3 firmware for Second Gen Nanos has added.
For example, I believe it was the 1.2 firmware for First Generation Nanos added support for the Nike + Sport kit. That's not the kind of thing that the 1.1.3 firmware does, since it is simply for those unnamed 'bug fixes'. Usually, if you have a second digit firmware update (for example, '1. 2'), there is a bigger change than just bug fixes. Compatibility to some sort of thing, like games from the iTunes Store with Fifth Generation iPods, can be added with this kind of update.
If you have a third digit firmware update (for example, '1.1. 3'), it's typically just for fixing stability issues, and doesn't really add anything new.

For me, all of the firmware updates for my Nanos didn't seem to really change their behavior in a good or bad way. Recently, however, I'm not sure if the 1.1.3 update directly related to this, but after updating Natalie, I noticed that she had a problem where, when 'Now Playing', every song on the full-sized album art screen had the same artwork as one song. It wasn't a really annoying issue, since the album artwork was displayed correctly on other screens like the main Now Playing details of Artist, Album, and Song. After attempting things such as resets, resyncs, etc., a simple restore fixed the issue. Still, it's really quite unlikely that you'll run into an issue that the 1.1.3 firmware introduces that some of the general troubleshooting procedures don't fix. (Like a restore, for example).Kylene May 20, 2007 4:50 AM.
